I make each set of meditation beads, or mala, by hand with 108 primary beads, which represent the 108 sufferings in the Buddhist tradition, a center bead, and two sets of five beads -- the five elements of heaven and the five elements of earth. Below the heaven/earth beads are hand-made silk tassels. Some sets of beads also have three smaller contrasting beads that divide the primary beads into four equal segments.
Malas can be worn around the neck or held in the hand. As you work with them, your beads take on your energy, which can then be used to assist both you and others in times of need.
I prefer to use natural silk thread for stringing most malas; please be aware that over time natural cords may fray. This is a sign that your mala should be restrung.
If you are looking for something unique, ask me about custom malas.
